Ivory & bone restoration

Works made from ivory and bone are fragile and if not properly stored decay with time. In addition to restoring accidental breakage, we bring back to original condition old ivory & bone artworks damaged from:

  • Mildew caused by high humidity,
  • Cracks caused by dry and hot air.
  • Breakage.
  • We also recreate missing elements.

The ivory boat was reasembled, missing pieces recreated to make it look as if it was never damaged.

Bone and especially ivory objects require special care to preserve from environmetal damages. When any such damages occur, there are various methods to reverse the damages. Mildew can be cleaned and any stains removed. Cracking can be restored to appeal visually and preserve the piece structurally. As specialists in "invisible" and "museum quality" restoration & conservation services, we have replicated missing ivory elements for numerous works. Such work is done either from synthetic material or from real ivory, as requested by the customer.

In addition to statues and figurines, we also work with any items which have ivory and bone inlay.
